Styling a photoshoot

Have you ever looked at an image of an outfit online and ordered the outfit. But the outfit doesn’t fit like the image you have seen on the website. So this will happen that way if you don’t plan your wardrobe for your photo shoot. This used to happen to me all the time. I would set up a shoot and ask the model to look over the concept images I selected for the shoot. I would leave it up to the model to come up with the wardrobe styling. It’s really nothing wrong with doing it that way. But you're losing out on some of the creative control. Plus most of the time, the model would just go in the closet and get something they would like to wear. Like I said, its nothing wrong with that. But it’s a hit or miss if the model does not see your vision for the shoot and styling have anything to do with the photoshoot theme. This would happen to me a lot.

So one day talking to a photographer about her amazing images and ask her how her shoots look so polished. She replies, that she styles her shoots herself. Which is a genius idea. After my amazing conversation with the photographer, I start styling my own shoots. I really can see a big difference in my images from when I wasn’t styling my own shoots.
